India is currently negotiating with Russia to modernize 80 additional Su-30MKI to raise the level of the Super-30. The operation could reach $ 1 billion (source: Russia & India Report).
This concerns the modernization batch of 80 Su-30MKI * already purchased from Russia (consortium Suhkoï / Irkut). Su-30MKI aircraft are delivered to the Indian Air Force (IAF) in four steps. Under the current plan, modernization should be carried out over the next three or four years.
In total, India has 170 aircraft Su-30MKI. The IAF also plans to purchase 272 additional aircraft. An order for 230 aircraft was already passed.
