The Minister of Defence Seyran Ohanyan visited Afghanistan to discuss the future of the military presence in Armenia with Afghan warlords and commanders of NATO.
The Armenian Ministry of Defence Seyran Ohanian said meet Afghan Minister of Defence Bismillah Khan Mohammadi, General Nick Carter, vice commander of the NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) NATO (ISAF ) for Afghanistan and General Erich Pfeffer, German commander of ISAF for the North zone.
"The issues of mutual interest related to the participation of Armenia in ISAF and new programs will be discussed during the meetings" the ministry said in a statement.
The statement added that Ohanian will also visit the cities in the north of Afghanistan Kunduz and Mazar-e-Sharif to inspect the 130 Armenian soldiers serving under German command.
Armenia has tripled the size of its military contingent in June last year. Ohanian told at that time that the additional troop deployment in Afghanistan will increase the links between Armenia and NATO.
