According to a journalist who accompanied a column of thirty armored vehicles in which was some 200 Malian and French troops entered the city Diabali at 10am (French time) without encountering resistance.Residents came out of their homes to greet the arrival of the soldiers.

Agence France Presse quoted a military source said that French and Malian soldiers were en route Monday morning to the city of Diabali taken a week ago by Islamists who had partly abandoned on January 17 after bombing French aviation.
The column of armored vehicles left the city at dawn Niono, 350 km northeast of Bamako.
