The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Tuesday called for a cease-fire in Mali, where French troops are engaged with the Malian army in an offensive against Islamist fighters .
In a statement, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu called for a cease-fire in the immediate member of his organization, and a return to negotiations between the Malian authorities and Islamists controlling the north of Mali, which were sponsored by Burkina Faso.
